University of Al-Maarif Organizes Free Medical Day for Local Communities

The University of Al-Maarif (UOA) organized a comprehensive Free Medical Day through the College of Allied Medical Sciences, in cooperation with a local charitable association supporting families, children, and individuals with special needs. The event was held at a community service center in Al-Anbar and involved the participation of academic staff, clinical supervisors, and a large number of student volunteers from various health programs.

This initiative reflects the university’s commitment to its humanitarian and social responsibility mission by providing accessible healthcare services to marginalized and underserved groups. More than 500 beneficiaries from surrounding areas received medical and therapeutic services during the event, including clinical examinations, consultations, educational guidance, and referrals for follow-up care.

The services provided included:

  • Physiotherapy Services:
Assessment and therapeutic sessions for cases involving back and neck pain, joint stiffness, and mobility challenges. Beneficiaries also received guidance on healthy nutrition for managing obesity, hypertension, and diabetes.
  • Medical Laboratory Services:
Free screening tests such as blood glucose measurement, HbA1c, and blood pressure monitoring for individuals of different age groups, along with medical counseling and referrals for additional evaluation when necessary.
  • Optometry and Vision Care:
Eye examinations were conducted for children and adults. Cases requiring further evaluation were referred to the university’s optometry clinic. Free eyeglasses were provided to individuals in need, in addition to distributing eye-care medication and arranging free surgical interventions for critical cases in coordination with specialized medical centers.
  • Speech, Language, and Hearing Screening:
Screening sessions were performed for children with suspected speech and hearing difficulties. Cases requiring further assessment were enrolled in free follow-up training and rehabilitation programs, including the provision of hearing aids for eligible children.
  • Health Education and Public Awareness:
Educational sessions were held on skincare, sun protection, and personal hygiene, with free distribution of skincare products to participating women.

At the conclusion of the event, the organizing association presented a certificate of appreciation to the University of Al-Maarif in recognition of its meaningful contribution to improving community health and supporting vulnerable groups.
