College of Pharmacy Launches “Your Medication in Ramadan” Health Awareness Campaign

Health Awareness Campaign: Distribution of the Guide “Your Medication in Ramadan”

A health awareness campaign was carried out through the distribution of an educational guide titled “Your Medication in Ramadan”, under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Abeer Abdullah Al-Ani, with the aim of promoting health awareness among fasting patients regarding the safe use of medications during the holy month of Ramadan.

The campaign included distributing the guide at Al-Maaref University and in several areas across the city of Ramadi, including the University area, Al-Warar area (Muawiyah ibn Abi Sufyan Mosque), Al-Khalidiyah area, and Al-Dhubat neighborhood (Salah Al-Din Al-Ayyubi Mosque).

The guide provided simplified medical instructions to help patients manage medication schedules for chronic diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, thyroid disorders, blood thinners, cholesterol medications, and stomach medications.

It also addressed the religious aspects related to what breaks the fast and what does not in relation to medications and medical procedures, while correcting some common misconceptions associated with taking medications during fasting. This helps achieve a balance between medication safety and the proper observance of religious practices.

Several students participated in implementing the campaign and distributing the guide, including:

  1. Moamen Saad Abdullah
  2. Saleh Qais
  3. Ahmed Khalid
  4. Osama Raed
  5. Al-Muhalab Ghazi
  6. Mohammed Munhal
  7. Ahmed Thamer
  8. Fahad Ahmed

This initiative comes as part of the College of Pharmacy’s efforts to enhance public health awareness in the community and serve patients by providing reliable pharmaceutical information that promotes the safe use of medications during the holy month of Ramadan.
