College of Science Holds Awareness Seminar on Cyber Extortion and How to Counter It

As part of promoting community awareness and keeping up with contemporary issues, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Science, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Center, held an awareness seminar titled:
“Cyber Extortion: The Hidden Threat and How to Confront It.”

The seminar included scientific and educational information, highlighting the concept of cyber extortion, its forms, risks, and psychological and social impacts. It also reviewed key preventive measures and legal and technical mechanisms to address this phenomenon and mitigate its effects.

The seminar witnessed notable attendance and active participation from faculty and students, who emphasized the importance of organizing such awareness activities, which contribute to enhancing safe digital culture and reinforcing the academic institutions’ role in serving the community.
