As part of the College of Pharmacy at the University of Al Maarif’s efforts to enhance community awareness of public health issues, a group of students organized an awareness-raising activity entitled “The Risks of Drug Abuse.” The activity involved distributing informational brochures to educate university students about the dangers of drug use and its negative effects on physical and mental health. The activity was conducted under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Samira Finjan and Lect. Dr. Doaa Hisham, with the participation of students Baraa Laith Yaseen, Ghaith Muhannad Mohammed, Sara Yaseen Rumaidh, Rusul Ibrahim Rumaidh, Naba Haitham Ahmed, and Naba Haitham Jameel. The brochures highlighted the effects of drug abuse on the nervous system, factors leading to initiation, addiction risks, and treatment challenges. Students also explained the importance of prevention and early awareness in protecting youth from addiction. This initiative reflects the College’s commitment to fostering awareness and promoting healthy behaviors among students.
