Gender Protection Policy (5.6.8)

Introduction

for all members of its community. The Gender Protection Policy ensures that students, faculty, and staff are protected from gender-based discrimination, harassment, and violence, and that all individuals have equal access to educational, professional, and social opportunities.

Key elements of the policy include:

  • Prohibition of gender-based discrimination, harassment, and abuse across all university activities and facilities
  • Clear reporting and accountability mechanisms to address complaints promptly and effectively
  • Preventive measures and awareness programs to educate the community on gender equality, rights, and protection
  • Support services including counseling, legal guidance, and confidential assistance for affected individuals

Through the Gender Protection Policy, UoA demonstrates its commitment to fostering a culture of safety, respect, and equity, empowering all community members to learn, work, and thrive without fear of discrimination or harm. This policy aligns with SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) by promoting inclusive, safe, and accountable environments across the university.

 

Awareness Dialogue Session on Ending Violence Against Women at Al-Maarif University
Under the patronage of Assistant Professor Dr. Mahmoud Abdul-Razzaq Al-Saadi, President of Al-Maarif University, the Women’s Affairs Unit, in cooperation with the College of Pharmacy and the Love and Peace Forum for Students and Youth, organized an awareness dialogue session as part of the 16 Days Campaign to End Violence Against Women under the slogan “Ending Violence Against Women: From Awareness to Change.” The session discussed forms, causes, and psychological and social impacts of violence against women, highlighting the role of academic institutions in community awareness. It promoted constructive dialogue, respect, equality, women’s rights protection, and social peace as part of the university’s humanitarian mission.
An Awareness Seminar on Women’s Electronic Blackmail at UOA
On Sunday, 29 October 2025, the Unit of Women’s Empowerment at the University of Al-Maarif organized an awareness seminar on electronic blackmail. The seminar was presented by Colonel Mohamed Ibrahim from the National Security Service in Anbar, with participation from Asst. Lec. Ali Saadoon Ahmed and Asst. Lec. Mohammed Hatim Aliwi. Opened by Dr. Abd Al-Monim Salih, the seminar discussed how women are targeted through hacking and extortion for financial, security, or immoral motives. The Dean highlighted ethical and religious perspectives, encouraging reporting. The seminar concluded with practical advice on prevention and contacting authorities.
