Shared Sports Facilities (3.3.3)

The University of Al-Maarif (UoA) demonstrates a strong, strategic, and ongoing commitment to promoting Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3) through a wide range of health-focused educational, athletic, recreational, and community engagement programs. These initiatives strengthen the culture of health and wellness not only within the university but also across the broader society in Al-Anbar and surrounding regions. Recognizing that health is a multidimensional concept that includes physical fitness, mental well-being, preventive awareness, and social belonging, UoA has prioritized the development of integrated programs that bring together students, academic staff, schools, families, and community organizations.

At the core of this commitment is the belief that universities play an essential role in shaping community health outcomes, fostering youth empowerment, and creating environments where healthy lifestyle practices are accessible and encouraged. Therefore, the university promotes physical activity through open access to its sports facilities, organized competitions, recreational activities, and health awareness campaigns. The Deanship of Student Affairs, in collaboration with the Sustainability and Global Ranking Unit, ensures that such programs are continuously expanded, monitored, and aligned with international best practices and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Furthermore, UoA maintains active partnerships with the Ministry of Education, local schools, youth clubs, sports federations, community centers, and charitable organizations, enabling the university to extend its impact beyond campus boundaries. These collaborations support social inclusion, especially among youth and underserved groups, by offering free or subsidized access to training sessions, health outreach activities, and educational seminars that promote the principles of preventive healthcare and long-term wellness.

Through these efforts, the University of Al-Maarif positions itself not only as an academic institution but also as a health-supportive environment committed to developing healthier generations and more resilient communities.
