SDG 1: No Poverty

Al-Maarif University is one of the biggest private universities located in the west part of Iraq, in the Governorate of Anbar. It has been established as a non-profitable educational institution that serves students from local, regional, and International communities. One of its basic goals is to meet the educational needs of students enrolled in its various Departments and to find ways of preserving promising learning opportunities for future generations. This fact coincides with the framework and terminology of Sustainable Development that achieves the social, economic, and environmental requirements of people and manages human and natural resources efficiently.

College anti-poverty programs

  1. Al-Maarif University aims to remove excessive poverty for all students.
  2. Al-Maarif University College tried to Reduce poverty levels by providing meals to students living in student hostels during Ramadan (the month of Fasting).
  3. By following the rules and regulations of the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education, students are asked to dress in a uniform of certain colors so as to reduce the gap between rich and poor students.
  4. Al-Maarif University College in an attempt to close the gender gaps in schooling and get entry to effective sources can appreciably enhance girls’ empowerment and earning, specifically those coming from rural regions.
  5. The Student Club and restaurant provide food and refreshments at relatively low prices which helped them a lot in saving money.
