Addressing Climate Change for a Sustainable Future<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Sustainable Development Goal 13 (SDG 13) emphasizes the need for urgent global action to combat climate change and its impacts<\/strong>. Iraq, as one of the most climate-vulnerable countries in the Middle East, faces serious environmental challenges such as rising temperatures, desertification, drought, water scarcity, and increased sandstorms<\/strong>. These threats endanger ecosystems, agriculture, and public health while also posing socio-economic risks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In response, the Government of Iraq<\/strong>, led by the Ministry of Environment<\/strong> and in collaboration with national and international partners, has initiated a range of programs and policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions<\/strong>, enhance environmental resilience<\/strong>, and adapt to the realities of a changing climate<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Iraq\u2019s National Climate Change Strategy and Action Plan<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The National Climate Change Strategy and Action Plan (2022\u20132030)<\/strong> represents Iraq\u2019s roadmap for addressing the climate crisis. It focuses on reducing carbon emissions, improving energy efficiency, managing natural resources, and strengthening adaptation measures.
The plan also supports Iraq\u2019s commitments under the Paris Agreement<\/strong>, outlining policies to transition toward a low-carbon and climate-resilient economy<\/strong> through sustainable energy, reforestation, and eco-friendly infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
