In alignment with <strong>SDG 5 (Gender Equality)<\/strong> and <strong>SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities)<\/strong>, UoA has established a comprehensive <strong>Non-Discrimination (Transgender Inclusion) Policy<\/strong> to ensure that every student, faculty member, and staff member\u2014regardless of gender identity or expression\u2014is treated with dignity, fairness, and full respect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This policy is designed to foster a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment where <strong>transgender and gender-diverse individuals<\/strong> can study, work, and participate freely in university life without fear of bias, exclusion, or harassment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2. Policy Purpose and Scope<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The purpose of this policy is to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Affirm the university\u2019s commitment to non-discrimination and gender inclusion.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide clear guidelines to prevent and address discrimination or harassment based on gender identity or expression.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Promote awareness and understanding of gender diversity within the university community.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure equitable access to educational, employment, and leadership opportunities for transgender individuals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This policy applies to <strong>all university members<\/strong>, including students, faculty, administrative staff, contractors, and visitors participating in university-sponsored activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>3. Policy Statement<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>University of Al-Maarif<\/strong> prohibits any form of discrimination or unequal treatment based on <strong>gender identity, gender expression, or transition status<\/strong> in all aspects of academic, social, and professional life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All individuals have the right to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be addressed by their <strong>chosen name and preferred pronouns<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Access <strong>facilities and services<\/strong> that correspond to their gender identity, including restrooms, housing, and sports facilities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participate in academic programs, extracurricular activities, and employment on an equal basis.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Expect <strong>confidentiality and privacy<\/strong> regarding gender identity and transition-related information.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>4. Institutional Responsibilities<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To implement this policy effectively, UoA commits to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Establishing a <strong>Gender Inclusion Committee<\/strong> under the <strong>Deanship of Student Affairs<\/strong> to oversee and monitor policy enforcement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conducting <strong>training and awareness workshops<\/strong> for faculty, staff, and students on gender identity and inclusive practices.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Updating <strong>university records and systems<\/strong> to recognize chosen names and gender identities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Integrating <strong>inclusive language<\/strong> in all official university communications and documents.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Providing <strong>counselling and psychological support services<\/strong> to transgender students and staff through the Center for Psychological Care.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>5. Complaint and Resolution Mechanism<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Any individual who experiences or witnesses discrimination, bullying, or harassment based on gender identity or expression may file a confidential complaint through:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <strong>University Ethics Office<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>Human Resources Department<\/strong> (for staff and faculty)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>Student Affairs Office<\/strong> (for students)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Complaints will be investigated promptly, impartially, and with full confidentiality. Disciplinary action will be taken against any individual or group found to have violated this policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>6.
