Aligned with the <strong data-start=\"799\" data-end=\"866\">United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 5 (Gender Equality)<\/strong> and Iraq\u2019s <strong data-start=\"878\" data-end=\"923\">National Strategy for Women\u2019s Advancement<\/strong>, UOA has developed and implemented a comprehensive framework to <strong data-start=\"988\" data-end=\"1152\">promote women\u2019s access to education, ensure equitable employment, strengthen institutional representation, and prevent discrimination or harassment in all forms<\/strong>.<\/p><p data-start=\"1155\" data-end=\"1638\">This report documents the university\u2019s <strong data-start=\"1194\" data-end=\"1247\">policies, initiatives, research, and achievements<\/strong> related to gender equality during the reporting period 2024\u20132025. It provides detailed insight into how UOA integrates gender considerations into <strong data-start=\"1394\" data-end=\"1519\">academic curricula, administrative decision-making, student affairs, research priorities, and community outreach programs<\/strong>, while also highlighting progress in <strong data-start=\"1557\" data-end=\"1637\">leadership representation, professional development, and awareness campaigns<\/strong>.<\/p><p data-start=\"1640\" data-end=\"1796\">The University of Al-Maarif approaches gender equality as both a <strong data-start=\"1705\" data-end=\"1755\">moral imperative and a developmental necessity<\/strong>, guided by three overarching principles:<\/p><ol data-start=\"1798\" data-end=\"2187\"><li data-start=\"1798\" data-end=\"1904\"><p data-start=\"1801\" data-end=\"1904\"><strong data-start=\"1801\" data-end=\"1834\">Empowerment through education<\/strong> \u2013 ensuring equal opportunities for women to learn, teach, and lead.<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"1905\" data-end=\"2052\"><p data-start=\"1908\" data-end=\"2052\"><strong data-start=\"1908\" data-end=\"1935\">Equity in participation<\/strong> \u2013 establishing a balanced and fair environment where all members can contribute to academic and professional life.<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"2053\" data-end=\"2187\"><p data-start=\"2056\" data-end=\"2187\"><strong data-start=\"2056\" data-end=\"2086\">Safety and dignity for all<\/strong> \u2013 maintaining a campus environment free from discrimination, harassment, or barriers to advancement.<\/p><\/li><\/ol><p data-start=\"2189\" data-end=\"2429\">By institutionalizing these principles, UOA continues to set a national example of inclusive higher education in Iraq, fostering a generation of graduates\u2014both men and women\u2014equipped to build a more just, equitable, and sustainable society.<\/p><hr data-start=\"2431\" data-end=\"2434\" \/><h2 data-start=\"2436\" data-end=\"2500\"><strong data-start=\"2439\" data-end=\"2500\">Institutional Policies and Governance for Gender Equality<\/strong><\/h2><h3 data-start=\"2502\" data-end=\"2546\"><strong data-start=\"2506\" data-end=\"2546\">1. Leadership and Representation<\/strong><\/h3><p data-start=\"3442\" data-end=\"3552\">UOA is proud of its growing number of women in leadership and decision-making roles.
