Research activities related to health and well-being at UOA span multiple academic fields, including <strong>medicine, nursing, pharmacy, medical laboratory sciences, biomedical engineering, public health, psychology, sports science, and digital health innovation<\/strong>, all of which collectively contribute to improving the health outcomes and quality of life of individuals and communities both locally and nationally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To ensure transparency and measurable progress, the university actively maps its research outputs to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This process is managed by the <strong>Center for Sustainability and Global Ranking<\/strong>, which maintains a continuously updated database of all peer-reviewed research, conference publications, and funded projects related to SDG 3. These research outputs address key public health priorities such as <strong>disease prevention, health behavior awareness, chronic illness management, mental health support, maternal and child health, elderly care, nutrition, and the development of modern medical device technologies<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UOA\u2019s research strategy is strongly aligned with real-world needs. The university promotes high-impact outcomes by encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration among faculties and by forming strategic partnerships with hospitals, public health institutions, government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and international academic networks. This integrated model ensures that research findings not only contribute to academic advancement, but also translate into <strong>practical healthcare solutions, evidence-based policy recommendations, clinical training enhancements, and sustainable community well-being programs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through its ongoing efforts to enhance research quality, relevance, and societal impact, the University of Al-Maarif positions itself as a leading institution in Iraq and the region for advancing research that directly supports <strong>SDG 3<\/strong>, while also contributing to related dialysis centers in Al-Anbar as part of their research plan. The students engaged directly with dialysis patients to gather accurate, firsthand data on the rising cases of renal insufficiency in the governorate. They distributed and completed carefully designed questionnaires to identify potential causes and contributing factors, aiming to support evidence-based recommendations for prevention and treatment. The session highlighted the role of histopathological examinations in diagnosing cancerous tumors and infections. Asst. Lec. Mohammed Rumaid Matar demonstrated the full procedure, including tissue fixation, dehydration, paraffin embedding, staining with hematoxylin and eosin, and microscopic analysis. The visit was attended by the department coordinator, Asst. Lec. Alaa Hamid Mohammed, and a group of students, and hosted by Engineer Alaa Amer, Head of the Medical Devices Unit. Students were introduced to medical devices, their operation and maintenance, and the role of biomedical engineers.
